Temporary Stay Permit (KITAS)

Working Visa (KITAS) in Indonesia

Are you planning to work and earn income in Indonesia? A Bali Working Visa (KITAS) is your gateway to legally working for an Indonesian-registered company. This essential permit enables you to engage in active employment while ensuring compliance with the country's immigration and labour laws.

What is a Working KITAS?

The Working KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) is a combination of a work permit and temporary stay permit issued to foreign nationals employed by Indonesian-based companies. Its duration varies between 6 to 12 months, depending on your job title and is subject to approval by Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower.

Who Can Apply for a Working Visa in Bali (KITAS)?

The Working KITAS is tailored for:

  • Foreign nationals employed by an Indonesian-registered company.
  • Professionals or specialists working on specific projects within Indonesia.

If you’re a digital nomad or a remote worker for an overseas company, the Working KITAS is not applicable. Instead, you may explore Indonesia's Remote Worker Visa.

  • Legal Work Authorization: Enables legal employment in Indonesia.
  • Access to Facilities: Purchase vehicles under your name and enjoy other local benefits.
  • Long-Term Stay: Stay and work in Indonesia for up to 6 years (with extensions).

Dependent Visa (KITAS)

Your Pathway to Stay with Loved Ones in Indonesia

If you are planning to join a family member who holds a KITAS (Limited Stay Permit) in Indonesia, the Dependent Visa is the perfect option. This visa is designed for foreign nationals who are the spouse or children of a primary KITAS holder, enabling them to stay in Indonesia and enjoy various benefits during their residence.

Whether you need to open a bank account, register a mobile phone, or simply live with your family, the Dependent KITAS makes it all possible. However, please note that the Dependent KITAS does not allow you to engage in full-time employment in Indonesia. If you wish to work part-time or as a freelancer, you may apply for an IMTA (Work Permit) and earn income, but you must also register for an NPWP (Tax ID) and submit your Individual Tax Report yearly. Our team can guide you through the tax process—click here for more details.

Should you find a full-time job, you can easily transition to a Working KITAS by changing your sponsor to your employer.

  • Validity Period: The Dependent KITAS is valid for the same duration as the primary KITAS holder’s visa. For example, if the primary KITAS is issued for one year, your Dependent KITAS will be valid for the same period.
  • Family Inclusion: This visa is available for spouses and children (under 18 years old and unmarried) of the KITAS holder.
  • Eligibility for Minor Children: Children who are under 18 and unmarried can apply for the Dependent Visa if the primary KITAS holder is their parent.
  • Employment Restrictions: The Dependent KITAS does not permit full-time employment. However, part-time work and freelance opportunities are possible with a Work Permit (IMTA).
